Mighty Eighth

The Mission

In 1944 the U.S. Army established the modern 8th Air Force in bases throughout Great Britain, in the greatest air armada the world has ever known. From dozens of air bases in Great Britain, hundreds of thousands of army personnel could send 2,000 4-engine bombers and 1,000 fighters on any given day on a single mission to control the skies over occupied Europe.

Our mission is to support the Eighth Air Force Historical Society (8AFHS) in perpetuating the history of The Mighty Eighth Air Force from 1942 to the present; to honor the memory of lost comrades; and to provide social events for 8thAFHS members living in Oregon and southern Washington.
